Social TRade Organisation STRO: Specialists in Local Currency Systems Social TRade Organisation, STRO (in Dutch STROhalm) , is a Research & Development network working in the field of micro-credit, development of small and medium enterprises and strengthening of local economies through networks of exchange. STRO specialises in innovative development methods, spreading them around the world as instruments to help local communities achieve a decent and sustainable quality of life. This objective is pursued through the implementation of several pilot projects in the Netherlands, Brazil, Central America and Asia. STRO also works on interest free exhange systems and interest-free investment opportunities in the Netherlands for organic organic agrigulture and interest free Islamic mortgage. The basic tool of STRO's methodologies is a business network that includes consumers. A part of the flow of money that enters a community through the spending (purchasing power) of these consumers, or governmental agencies, is circulating several times through the exchange network before it leaves the area, to activate as much as possible unused capacities of the local economy. Some of our projects are focussing on the very first step towards entrepreneurship, others are more elaborated tools to optimise the outreach of the existing economic actors. All projects result in more employment, income and opportunities for local communities to improve their living conditions. |
